The Ben Poore Project is a folk/rock-leaning collective built around the songs and stories of Southampton-based singer-songwriter Ben Poore. What started as one person trying to make sense of growing up, grief, hope, and everything between has gradually become something wider, a small community of musicians and listeners who believe music is at its best when it brings people closer, not when it puts someone on a pedestal.

These songs are about the things most of us quietly carry: lost friendships, late-night doubts, breakups that shouldn’t have hurt but did, tiny victories that mattered more than we admitted, and the kind of messy joy you only notice when you look back.

The sound leans into indie folk and folk rock, acoustic guitars, storytelling lyrics, and arrangements that leave room for the audience to step into the song. At times it nods to Americana and at others to the coastal cities and pub back rooms where the songs grew up.

Why We Play

For us, the live show is the point.
Not because it’s perfect, it never is, but because a room full of strangers singing the same words for different reasons feels like proof that none of us are carrying this stuff alone.

Our quiet belief, and the thing that keeps this whole project moving, is simple:

Music is a community, not a product.
The point is connection, not perfection.
Everyone has a story worth singing.

Who It’s For

If you like songs with a bit of heart, a bit of humour, and a bit of dirt under the fingernails, you’ll fit right in. If you’ve ever felt like your life doesn’t quite match the brochure, you’ll probably recognise yourself here too.

Everyone is welcome. No scene required.

Where It’s Going

Right now the project is releasing music, playing shows, and slowly building a world where people can feel part of something rather than just standing in front of it. If that sounds good to you, come be part of it, whether that’s at a gig, in the comments, or just listening on a long drive when you need to think.

Thanks for being here.
It means more than you think.
